Flora & Fauna Submissions
[PTabbedContent][PTab= overview ] Greetings, adventurers! The staff team has been hard at work crafting a comprehensive list of unique fantasy flora and fauna to add richness and depth to our world. We want your characters to experience a land teeming with strange and wonderful creatures, as well as plants with a variety of intriguing properties—some medicinal, some poisonous, others perhaps even aggressive or carnivorous! From benevolent, magical beings to ferocious monsters, this catalog will bring a whole new dimension to your encounters. Each plant and creature can be categorized as rare, uncommon, or common: rare encounters will require admin approval, uncommon ones should be used sparingly, and common ones are open for anyone to use in their adventures. We’re reaching out to the community for your creative input! We know many of you have fantastic ideas for unique creatures and plants, and we’d love to see them come to life in our world. If you’d like to contribute, please use the form provided to submit your ideas. Remember, each entry should add something special to the world but not be too powerful. Staff will review each submission, and while not all may be accepted, we’ll reward 5 gold for your first entry and 20 gold for each entry that’s approved. Let your imagination run wild, but remember that staff may deny entries if they don’t fit our world. Let’s create something truly memorable together! [/PTab={tab-align:left;tab-background-color:transparent;background-color:transparent;}] [PTab= submission form ] Copy and past this form into a reply to this thread. Fill it out fully and as thoroughly as you can, and let your imagination run wild! Even if the idea isn't approved, you can submit as many as you'd like.

Flora or Fauna? Fauna – Creature Seasonal or Year-round: Year-round Country: Anywhere a jewel keeper has been Name: Fae Description: The Fae are majestic creatures a few sizes larger than their mundane counterparts, with a crest gem embedded along their bodies. Strangely, they are born around those who hold the jewels of power, a phenomenon yet to be fully understood. Their proximity seems to trigger magical adaptations in nature, causing flora and fauna to flourish or transform under the influence of their high-density magic. Each Fae develops one extraordinary trait, though it is rare for an individual to diverge from the abilities typical of their kind. Completely reliant on their crystals for life, Fae perish if separated from their stones, which turn inert upon their death. Additionally, in a world where magic no longer flows as it once did, their existence becomes tragically short. Deprived of external magic, the Fae deplete their own reserves to sustain themselves, leading to their inevitable demise.
Flora or Fauna? Fauna – Creature Seasonal or Year-round: Year-round Country: Depends on the season, but usually at open sea. Name: Skywhales Description: These colossal, majestic beings soar through the skies and glide beneath the ocean’s surface, effortlessly bridging two worlds. They travel in gentle migration patterns with massive, graceful bodies, moving between rich aquatic feeding grounds and the cloud-laden skies. As they swim and fly, Skywhales leave a trail of bioluminescent plankton or shimmering mist in their wake, enriching the environment and creating a magical glow in their wake that nourishes the ecosystems they traverse.
Flora or Fauna? Fauna – Creature Seasonal or Year-round: Year-round Country: Sela Name: Wisps Description: Wisps are mischievous, ethereal beings, often mistaken for drifting lanterns or distant stars. They flicker with an eerie, unpredictable glow, enticing those who encounter them to follow. Their primary instinct is to lead others off the beaten path, wandering through forests or over rugged hills, always just out of reach. Despite their deceptive nature, they are not malicious at their core. Wisps never intend for harm to come to their victims. Instead, their actions are driven by an overwhelming sense of boredom. Cursed to forever wander, they seek to entertain themselves. Though frustrating to follow, their antics are often seen as a challenge or a test of wit. And if you can match their whimsy, they might just lead you to your desired destination.

Flora or Fauna? Fauna Seasonal or Year-round: Year round Country: Vendaya Name: Lumigaster aurifer Gloam Salamander Description: A salamander-esque creature that thrives exclusively in nutrient-rich soil environments, particularly in areas abundant in essential minerals. They're easiest spotted in the moist, oasis-esque underground of Vendaya's caves. The slamander possesses several evolutionary adaptions to their dark abodes, such as a narrow, elongated body perfect for digging, mottled earthly-toned skin to serve as camoflauge, and sharp claws for climbing and digging. Gloam salamanders are not sexually dimorphic (both male and female share the same coloring, but males are slightly bigger than the female on average, with a difference of a pound either way.) During the winter time, the salamander typically form a brighter morph while during the summer/spring, the salamander relies on its darker coloring to avoid predation. With both morphs, embedded mineral particles absorbed over time contribute to its unique bioluminescent patterns. The Gloam Salamander sustains itself on minerals and salt-licks that it finds on the sides of cliffsides and in the soil. Even though it lives in a land of giants, that doesn't mean the small should be forgotten. The sight of a healthy Gloam Salamander is a sign of fertile soil and prosperous land to come. Real life reference: (xxx)Flora or Fauna? Flora Seasonal or Year-round: Year-round Country: Dain Name: Graminis Rigidus Coarsegrass Description: Thin and wiry in appearance, Coarsegrass gets its name from the rough, sandpaper-ish texture of the bristles, which help to trap moisture, deter grazing from herbivores and insects. The most unusual aspect of this plant is its ability to flourish in the most unlikely of spots. Explorers recount tales of coarsegrass sprouting in between cave bluffs, or at the edge of frozen lakes. Basically, if the plant can take root, it can live. The coarsegrass’s roots are deceptively strong, burrowing deep into rocky crevices to extract what little moisture and minerals are available. Though never flourishing abundantly in any one area, the plant’s roots help prevent erosion by setting deep into the soil like an anchor. In areas where thawing permafrost creates instability, the roots form an extensive network that weaves through rocky crevices and loose soil, binding the substrate together and preventing it from being swept away by strong tundra winds or seasonal meltwater. Coarsegrass’s importance to the ecosystem is not merely physical but also ecological. Its roots contribute organic matter to the soil over time, promoting nutrient renewal and recycling. More practically, Coarsegrass has been used by locals as a metaphor for those who are too stubborn or courageous to succumb to the frigidity of their environment. The grass has been harvested for the use of the ports; larger ships of old and new models enjoy the durability of the coarsegrass in their rigging and mast ropes. Real life Reference: (xxx)Flora or Fauna? Fauna Seasonal or Year-round: Seasonal | Summer Country: Selá Name: Choreotox avis Gilded Adderwing Description: Sexually dimorphic and endlessly entrancing, the Adderwing hails from the larger Veriegatis family, but is the first to incorporate venom into their ecology. wip

Flora or Fauna? Fauna Seasonal or Year-round: Year-round Country: Vedenya Name: Lumibug Description: The Lumibug's area nocturnal creature nestled deep within the Maw, feeding off of moonlight that filters from the crevices above. They give off a silvery light of bioluminescence from their diet that consists of leaves and small berries from Aethertrees in the depths of the Maw. Due to the chemical reactions in their bodies, when ingested, they provide minor healing effects. Their effects can stack the more are ingested. The flavor profile resembles a slight sweetness, juicy, and tender. Their environment is fragile, and any harm caused to Aethertrees could decimate their population. When happy, they give off a shrill that sounds similar to wind chimes made of the finest silver.

Flora or Fauna? Flora
Seasonal or Year-round: Year-round
Country: Dain
Name: Frost Flower
Description: As one of the only year-round flowers in Dain, this ethereal bloom has translucent blue and silver crystal-like petals that curl outward like spirals of ice. In the middle there are long stamens that almost glow like the stars in the night sky when caught by the light. The stem is covered in a permanent, protective ice sheath, never melting no matter how long it is held. They are often used as decoration in the wealthier homes of Dain. The frost flower is a status symbol in Dain because it only grows in the highest, most perilous peaks, requiring immense strength and courage to retrieve—a testament to the resilience and determination of those who possess it.
